Baby It's Hot Outside!

When the weather gets hot, your electric bill will increase as you try to keep your home cool by turning on the AC.
How about a few tips on keeping your house cool in an efficient and cost-effective way?

 Run your AC between 76 and 78 degrees during the day if someone is home. Running your AC at 70 degrees can double your electric bill.
Also run your AC on Auto not Fan.

Other tips…..

Get an AC system checkup or Energy Audit to detect air duct leaks in your attic and other places

Change filters – every other month

Use a Programable thermostat – keep lamps away from your thermostat, the heat from the light bulb will cause your AC to turn on

Close blinds, use thermal curtains or thermal shades

Add insulation to your home

Create shade – inside and out

Clean dryer vents – this will help your dryer not run as long

Seal air leaks – caulk and weather strip

Unplug items when not in use

 Run ceiling fans in counterclockwise direction to push air down

Avoid using stove, dryer, and dishwasher in the hottest part of the day

These are a few things you can try to stay a little cooler and maybe keep a little more money in your pocket.
